Background information
The ability to compete in the UK
Telecommunication Market has long been hampered by a line ownership
debate between BT (British Telecom) and the regulative body Ofcom,
(formally Oftel)
Other licensed operators, like us
have been able to compete against BT for many years, supplying an
alternative high quality method of routing all their telephone calls at
a much lower cost than BT. However, alternative suppliers have never
been able to completely satisfy the needs of the business customer. The
line rental market has always been monopolised by BT, which has meant
prices have remained unnecessarily high.
This changed, as of July 2004 and
is now open to other suppliers to supply at more competitive prices than
BT.
Now for the first
time, PumaIP can supply you with a “one only” bill for you
calls and line rental, with no need for any residual relationship with
BT.
With the end user's
permission, the complete and seamless transfer of BT access lines is now
possible. PumaIP takes ownership of the lines and the end-user rents
